- A free Web database for health and medicine is PubMed,
produced by the US National Library of Medicine. Coverage is from 1966 onwards.
- PubMed Central supplies free access to health and biomedical journal articles.
- Get background information on a range of diseases and medical conditions at MedlinePlus or the Merck Manual (17th edition).
- HealthInsite from the Federal Department of Health and Ageing, has information on diseases and conditions, lifestyle, life events such as menopause and pregnancy, and links to medical and support groups.
- MyDoctor is an Australian health look-up site.
- The latest World Health Report (2004) from the World Health Organization is now online. It is called World Health Report - Changing History. Earlier reports back to 1995 are in the archives for comparison.
- Read health information from the World Health Organization or search WHOSIS, WHO's statistical health database.
- Search the National Health and Medical Research Council's Clinical Trials Centre or look for the clinical trials database from the US National Institutes for Health.
- Find UK clinical trials.
- Search Emory University's MedWeb site for a range of health databases, from A-Z.
- Find all kinds of reliable and up-to-date cancer information from the US National Cancer Institute.
- Search HospitalSoup for Australian hospitals or hospitals in other countries.
- Use CancerAnswers to find cancer specialists, treatment information and support groups.
- Find information about 100% in Control, Queensland Health's alcohol and drug education
campaign for 12 to 17 year olds.
- The Centre for Education and Information on Drugs and Alcohol works to increase the number of effective strategies to reduce drug-related harm.
- The Centre for Youth Drug Studies is the research arm of the Australian Drug
Foundation.
- Drug Safe contains factsheets, information, data, documents, policies, procedures, guidelines, images and general health material.
- Find National Alcohol Campaign publications, downloadable TV commercials and links to other relevant websites.
